Driving with a trailer
If you obtain the driving licence for the passenger car, you may also drive it with a (light) trailer. This combination is sometimes subject to different rules.
Speed limit
The speed limit with a trailer behind your passenger car is almost the same as with a passenger car, except on autowegen and motorways. A passenger car with a trailer may never drive faster than 90 km/h on the autoweg or on the motorway. If a lower speed is indicated on these roads, then of course this lower speed applies.
Road section
The appropriate road section for a passenger car with a trailer is the same as for those without trailers. However, with a combination longer than seven metres on the motorway, you may not use a lane other than the two lanes on the far right. Because a combination of a passenger car and trailer quickly exceeds seven metres, this rule generally applies to all these combinations. This rule also applies to all lorries.
If you need to drive in a different lane than the two lanes to the right to pre-sort, it is allowed to do so. Keep in mind that on a motorway with a trailer you are seen as slower traffic. Therefore, use the right lane as much as possible for the direction you want to go.

On the motorway, you are not allowed to use this lane with a combination that is longer than 7 metres. The lesson car must travel at least one lane to the right.

In this case, the combination is allowed to drive in this lane if the driver wants to keep following the indicated direction.
