Meaning per category - C
These signs indicate a declaration of closure (no entry), one way streets (entry from one direction only) and rush-hour lane openings.

C-1
Closed in both directions to vehicles, horse riders and handlers of horses and livestock. Pedestrians are allowed here.

C-2
One-way street. Closed on this direction to vehicles, horse riders, handlers of horses and livestock. Pedestrians are allowed to enter from this side.

You can also find sign C-2 at the end of an exit of the autoweg or motorway. It is then always combined with the supplementary plate ‘ga terug’ (go back), to prevent drivers driving in the wrong direction.

You are entering the motorway in the wrong direction here. Sign C-2 indicates that you must turn around.

C-3
One-way street, entry from this side allowed. If this sign is placed at the start of the street, then C-2 is placed at the end of the street.

C-4
One-way street to the right. This sign is usually placed at a T-junction. In that case you are required to turn right.

C-5
Entry from both directions allowed. This sign is placed at streets that appear to be one-way streets, but where you are allowed to enter from both sides. For example, a parallel road next to the main carriageway.
