Meaning per category – H

This small category contains only two signs, which indicate whether you are entering or leaving the built-up area. Because these signs have a significant effect on some traffic rules, they are very important. These rules include:

  • the speed limit (maximum speed inside built-up areas is lower than outside);
  • giving way to buses leaving bus stops (only mandatory inside built-up areas);
  • the use of lighting while stationary (only mandatory outside built-up areas);
  • the prohibition of parking on a priority road (only prohibited outside built-up areas).

H-2 New type of end of built-up area sign

The following sign is very similar to sign H-1, but has no legal meaning. After this sign you are not in a built-up area. This sign is used for neighbourhoods without a built-up area, or large municipalities with a smaller built-up area, but with a lot of buildings outside that built-up area.
